Consigning With Us
The Silk Purse is always in need of quality consignments, and can handle an entire estate or a single item.
If your items are small enough, just bring them into the store. We accept consignments on Tuesdays, Thursdays and Saturdays between the hours of 11:00 and 4:00. If you have large items, we can frequently determine acceptability and selling price from pictures, which can be sent via email to info@thesilkpurse.com or sent by regular mail or brought into the store. If need be, we can make a house call. You will receive a written receipt when an item is accepted for consignment.
The Consignor receives 64.66% of the selling price, and we mail our consignor checks on the first of each month along with a print out showing what's been sold. If an item doesn't sell in two months, we reduce the price by 10%, and then by another 10% if it hasn't sold in three months. The consignor may take an item back at any time, and we also have the right to ask at any time that it be retrieved. The consignor MUST take back any unsold items after the items have been in the store for FOUR months. ANY UNSOLD ITEMS NOT RETRIEVED AFTER FOUR MONTHS FROM THE DATE OF CONSIGNMENT BECOME THE PROPERTY OF THE SILK PURSE.
